A wedding is one of life’s great moments, a time of commitment as well as good wishes, feasting and joy. We are delighted to support and work with couples preparing for their Marriage Service in Church. For more details, please contact our  Team Rector, the Rev. Matthew Stafford, who is based at The Rectory, New Road, Much Wenloock, TF13 6EQ.   Tel: (01952)727396   wenlockrectory@btinternet.com or you may prefer first to explore the Church of England wedding website www.yourchurchwedding.org

You’ll need to discover if your preferred church is legally available to you for your wedding. St. Peter’s Church is part of the Wenlock Team of Parishes (www.wenlockchurches.co.uk) If you have lived, or regularly attended church, in one of those parishes, then it should be possible to marry in any of the 13 churches of the Wenlock Team. There are several other possibilities for a “qualifying connection”, and you can find them by following this link: http://www.yourchurchwedding.org/youre-welcome/more-churches-to-choose-from.aspx

Marriage is a commitment “till death us do part”, but we acknowledge that marriages do themselves die, and we welcome wedding enquiries from divorced people. It is not legally possible at present for couples of the same sex to have a Marriage Service in the Church of England.

Popular places for wedding receptions often get booked up 18 months in advance, so it’s helpful to enquire about places and dates for your wedding reception before agreeing a date for the church service. A wedding does not have to be on a Saturday.

There'll be an opportunity to meet with the priest who will be officiating at your wedding, to plan service details, discuss legal requirements and fees. Then, nearer the wedding day, there'll be a time for the two of you to rehearse in church. We look forward to helping make the wedding day your special day.
